Ansible Platform Engineer

Job Title: Senior Ansible Platform Engineer / Ansible Automation Platform Administrator

Location: Chandler, Arizona or Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Duration: W2 Contract 18-24 Months

Overview We are seeking a Senior Ansible Platform Engineer to support a large automation transformation initiative focused on migrating from BMC BladeLogic to Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). This role will be responsible for building, administering, and evolving the Ansible Automation Platform environment, including platform design, automation development, and operational governance.

The program is currently in the POC and early build phase, with a multi-year roadmap. The selected engineer will play a key role in standing up AAP from scratch, designing platform capabilities, and supporting enterprise automation use cases.

Project Details

• Program: Enterprise automation transformation
• Objective: Migrate automation workflows from BladeLogic to Ansible Automation Platform
• Current Phase: Proof of concept and early platform build
• Timeline: 2–3 year program with increasing scope over time

Initial work will focus on designing and deploying the Ansible Automation Platform, followed by operational administration and automation development as the platform expands across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, administer, and maintain Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) in an enterprise environment
• Lead design and implementation of AAP architecture and platform capabilities
• Support migration of automation workflows from BladeLogic to Ansible
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation frameworks
• Create automation scripts using Python and YAML
• Administer platform components including automation controllers, execution environments, and repositories
• Manage automation code repositories and CI workflows using Bitbucket
• Work with infrastructure teams supporting Linux and virtual machine environments
• Contribute to automation governance, risk, and control processes
• Support platform evolution as infrastructure transitions from VM environments to OpenShift-based deployments
• Implement customization and automation processes required for platform cutovers and migration activities

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) administration and engineering
• Experience deploying or building Ansible Automation Platform from scratch
• Advanced Ansible playbook development
• Strong scripting with Python and YAML
• Experience administering Linux environments
• Experience managing automation platforms in enterprise environments
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL in backend platform environments
• Experience with Bitbucket or similar source control systems
• Ability to design platform features, automation workflows, and system architecture

Preferred Experience

• Experience migrating automation tools such as BladeLogic → Ansible
• Exposure to OpenShift / Kubernetes environments
• Background as a Linux administrator, middleware administrator, or DevOps engineer transitioning into automation
• Familiarity with TSO / ISPF (TrueSight Operations) environments
• Exposure to Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools
• Experience with risk and controls frameworks related to enterprise applications
