Job Description

Inventory Control Process Specialist for provincial government agency client, downtown Toronto.

Marberg Job Number: 2802.

Job Type: Temporary.

Initial Term: May 18, 2026 to May 14, 2027.

Existing Vacancy: Yes.

Target Compensation: $58.60 per hour.

Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME WORK HOURS –7.25 work hours per day, not including unpaid 45 min lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 work hours per week).

Work Location: 100% onsite at Client's Downtown Toronto office, near Union, TTC and GO stations.

Responsibilities Summary:

Accountable for leading the development and cross functional alignment of Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) control processes, ensuring they meet operational needs, system requirements, and long term governance standards.

  • Lead end to end process mapping efforts, including planning and facilitating workshops to gather detailed operational, system, and internal/vendor SME insights.
  • Utilize inventory management best practices across both physical operations and system based controls.
  • Utilize expertise in inventory control systems, preferably HxGN, to design system workflows, data requirements, and integration points.
  • Conduct detailed process analysis to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Apply project management discipline to structure the work, including scheduling, milestone planning, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment between physical workflows, system logic, and vendor capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to map, validate, and develop inventory control processes grounded in best practices.
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to understand capabilities, priorities, and constraints to ensure aligned process design.
  • Document all decisions, escalations, and discussion outcomes to ensure transparency and traceability throughout the project.
  • Secure cross functional buy in for all process designs, ensuring alignment across departments and vendors.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Strategy & Transformation team and all stakeholders involved in inventory control process development.
  • Facilitate clear communication, expectation setting, and alignment across all parties.
  • Establish clear KPIs and governance routines to monitor process performance and project progress.
  • Define quality standards and controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency.
  • Additional operational responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education: University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Statistics, or a related discipline, or applicable combination of work experience and education.

Preferred Work Experience: At least 4+ years of progressive, related work experience in inventory control, process design, and systems integration.

Preferred Sector Experience: Public Sector, Civil Infrastructure, Utility, or Construction sector experience preferred.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

  • Familiarity with project management tools & practices including scheduling, risk tracking, milestone management, documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Word (may be tested).
  • Proficient English communication skills, including advanced level business writing skills and verbal presentation skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences.

Task-Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of physical inventory processes (e.g., receiving, cycle counting, reconciliation) and ERP/inventory systems such as HxGN.
  • Ability to assess current state, define future state, and translate requirements into processes.
  • Ability to convey technical/process information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong requirements gathering abilities, with the skills to capture business needs and convert them into system/process requirements.
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices across both physical operations and system-based controls.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong documentation skills ensuring transparency and traceability of decisions and processes.
  • Ability to establish governance frameworks, KPIs, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
  • Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work, 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to promptly provide minimum of 2 reasonably recent, qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
