Stone Slab Handling | Overhead Crane & Forklift Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Operator to manage the flow of natural stone and engineered slabs through our shop. This role is responsible for receiving, storing, tagging, and staging heavy stone slab bundles, and supporting the fabrication team by pulling material for active jobs. The ideal candidate is confident maneuvering heavy, awkward loads with an overhead crane, organized enough to keep a large slab inventory accurately tracked, and comfortable working in a manufacturing software environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming slab bundles (granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, porcelain) from delivery trucks using overhead crane and forklift
• Safely operate the overhead crane to lift, move, and position heavy stone slabs and bundles, using slab clamps, vacuum lifters, slings, and other below-the-hook attachments
• Store slabs on A-frame racks and organize the yard by material, colour, lot, and job
• Tag, label, and track slabs and remnants in our inventory / manufacturing software; maintain accurate records of location, dimensions, and status
• Pull and stage slabs for the fabrication team based on job tickets and work orders
• Operate the forklift for pallet handling, tooling, crates, and general shop material movement
• Load customer pickups and outgoing delivery trucks; secure loads properly for transport
• Perform daily pre-use inspections on the crane, forklift, and lifting attachments; report any damage or unsafe conditions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse, yard, and loading area
• Follow all health and safety protocols at all times

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience handling natural stone or engineered stone slabs is a strong asset
• Valid overhead crane operator certification with proven experience maneuvering heavy, awkward loads
• Valid forklift operator licence (counterbalance); boom-attachment experience an asset
• Hands-on experience with slab clamps, vacuum lifters, and proper rigging technique
• Comfortable using manufacturing or inventory software (e.g., Moraware Systemize, Slabsmith, Horus, or similar ERP) — training provided on our system
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to keep a large, moving slab inventory accurate
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Able to commute reliably to Bolton, ON

Pay: $26.00-$28.50 per hour
