Role Summary
AI-Assisted Course Content Developer (Ontario Curriculum)
Contract, project-based | Pay: $5,000 per completed course (4 courses total)
Maple Bear International School Toronto (MBIST) is building a library of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) courses for international students, delivered through D2L Brightspace. We use a structured AI-assisted workflow: subject-specialist content developers work with Claude AI to produce lesson content from a pre-approved blueprint.
Time commitment: approximately 80 hours per course total
Deadline: Courses must be completed by end of July / early August2026
Subject areas: Grade 9 and Grade 10 Science and Math.
Responsibilities and Duties
This is not a traditional writing role. Every course is already designed before you start. Your job is to use AI as a drafting partner and apply your subject expertise to direct, review, and refine what it produces. You are hired for subject knowledge first, writing ability second. An external SME Reviewer signs off on accuracy before anything is published, so you are not the last line of defence on subject accuracy.
You never start from a blank page. Every course comes with an approved blueprint (units, learning goals, curriculum mapping, assessment plan, lesson sequence), the MBIHS HTML template library, an AI Teams workspace pre-loaded with course context, and a QA checklist.
What you'll do, per course (4–6 units, 4–6 lessons per unit):
- Use a pre-configured AI Project to draft lesson content, assessments, rubrics, and discussion prompts
- Edit AI's output for accuracy, tone, and ESL suitability
- Apply our Activate / Acquire / Apply HTML lesson template
- Write or prompt formative checks, 3 summative assessments per unit, and 1 observable assessment (discussion or video post) per unit
- Build everything into D2L: paste HTML, set up dropboxes, discussion forums, question pools, rubrics, and gradebook items aligned to the Ontario 70/30 term-work/final split
- Draft one final exam per course in collaboration with AI, submit for review, and build into D2L
- Share drafts with the SME Reviewer, incorporate feedback, flag any subject uncertainty, and run the QA checklist before marking a unit complete
Desired Work Experience, Education, and Skills
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (OCT) or equivalent teaching certification
- High school teaching experience in math and science
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum documents
- Comfort with AI writing tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as a collaborator
- D2L Brightspace experience and basic HTML comfort
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to make AI-generated prose sound natural and pedagogically appropriate
Assets
- Experience teaching or designing for ESL / multilingual learners
- Prior experience with Claude specifically
- Online or curriculum design experience at the secondary level
Pay: $50.00-$60.00 per hour
Work Location: Remote
