Senior Controls Engineer
💰 $100,000 – $120,000 + Full Company-Paid Benefits + RRSP Match

Our client in the machine building industry in Toronto, ON is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for a hands-on controls professional who thrives in programming, testing, commissioning, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-performance automated equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Program and debug PLC & HMI systems (Allen-Bradley, Bosch-Rexroth, Codesys)
- Develop structured, maintainable ladder logic and structured text code
- Test and commission automated machinery prior to shipment and on customer sites
- Start up and tune AC drives, servo systems, and motion control applications
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems during build, install, and warranty phases
- Update electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
- Lead customer training and support on newly commissioned equipment
- Mentor junior team members and support project milestone execution
- Ensure ISO, safety, and documentation standards are upheld
What You Bring
- Engineering degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology (Controls focus)
- 5+ years of PLC/HMI programming experience across multiple platforms
- Strong experience with RSLogix 5000/500 or Siemens STEP 7
- Expertise in automation integration, device networking, and motion systems
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot at component level
- Experience commissioning industrial equipment in manufacturing environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work under deadline pressure
