Job Title: FIFO Fleet & Equipment Technician (Oil & Gas)
Location: Christina Lake, AB
Schedule: Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFO) – 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
Our client is seeking a FIFO Fleet & Equipment Technician for a 1-year contract role supporting fleet and equipment maintenance operations in a remote oil and gas environment. This is a hands-on, safety-focused position requiring strong technical expertise, independence, and the ability to work effectively in a FIFO setting while collaborating with site teams and safety leadership.
What’s the Job?
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light-duty fleet and support equipment, including pickup trucks, generators, light towers, ATVs, UTVs, and other mobile or stationary equipment.
- Conduct detailed equipment inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic issues.
- Diagnose faults and repair or replace components using hand tools, power tools, and OEM diagnostic systems.
- Complete post-repair testing to ensure equipment meets safety, operational, and manufacturer standards.
- Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs, and fleet documentation in a timely manner.
- Order parts and receive materials as required to support maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and on-site oversight for contracted labor when required.
- Work closely with fleet coordination, safety leads, and site teams to ensure job plans align with safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
- Plan and execute work in strict compliance with site safety programs and procedures.
- Actively participate in hazard identification, risk mitigation, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards and assist with follow-up actions as required.
- Maintain professionalism and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and cooperative work environment.
What’s Needed?
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of journeyman-level experience as an Automotive Service Technician or equivalent.
- Automotive Service Technician Journeyman Certificate (required).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Current H2S Alive and Standard First Aid certifications.
- Strong ability to work independently without direct supervision in a remote FIFO environment.
- Advanced experience with vehicle diagnostics using OEM diagnostic platforms.
- Proven troubleshooting and repair experience with electrical, electronic control, hydraulic, and A/C systems.
- Experience maintaining mixed light-duty and industrial equipment fleets.
- Red Seal Journeyman Certification (asset).
- Experience with Ford and Kubota equipment (asset).
- Previous experience in oil & gas, mining, or remote industrial environments (asset).
