Job Description
Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: Edmonton, AB
Schedule: 7-month contract
Our client is seeking a Database Administrator to support ERP database operations that enable Demand Planning and Inventory activities. In this role, you will provide functional and technical support to ensure database performance, stability, and data accuracy within a dynamic manufacturing environment, working closely with global teams.
What's the Job?
- Maintain and support the ERP database environment (SAP S/4HANA) to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain Demand Planning and Inventory dashboards, KPI reports, and operational reporting.
- Create and enhance programs that improve efficiency and communication across Demand Planning and Inventory teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for part setups, system accuracy, and database knowledge across global interfaces.
- Track and update task statuses in the Database Tracker to ensure on-time completion of all deliverables.
- Collaborate with Engineering to gather missing technical details and with Purchasing to clarify quotes, part requests, and BOM information.
- Review Engineering BOMs and populate ERP part number data in alignment with current procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues for global users, including:
- Units of Measure and conversions
- Duplicate part cleanup and part number accuracy
- Global part number mapping and item description consistency
- Vendor item detail corrections
- Inventory and configuration setup within SAP S/4HANA
- Cross-reference and validate part numbers across multiple regions (Canada, USA, Ireland, and others).
- Manage data imports and exports across database systems.
- Support the setup and identification of UNSPSC codes on items.
- Train global team members on system processes and data standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What's Needed?
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with item attributes, BOMs, and master data.
- Proven problem-solving skills when working with incomplete or evolving information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Purchasing, Inventory, Materials, and Operations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and close multiple open tasks.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with shifting priorities.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Operations, MRP/ERP systems, and Inventory Management.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and MS Teams.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is required.
- Experience with Supply Chain or Logistics systems is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global team environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and highly organized with strong time management skills.
- Demonstrated positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to team success.
