We're growing fast and hiring the engineering talent to match. <hr></div> <div class="section page-centered" data-qa="job-description"> The Opportunity:</div> <div class="section page-centered" data-qa="job-description"> We are seeking a Senior Data Developer with a strong background in data governance to join our growing team. You will own the governance foundation that underpins the MaintainX data platform, product and internal analytics, spanning quality, access, classification, discoverability, lineage, retention, and compliance. You will extend your influence across engineering systems and company-wide data sources, implementing frameworks, tooling, and policies that ensure the data ecosystem is well-governed at MaintainX.   What You’ll Do: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Own and evolve the data governance framework across the data platform, including quality, access, discoverability, retention, classification, residency, compliance, and lifecycle</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Define and enforce data quality standards; build and maintain data contracts, automated quality checks and data observability tooling</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Manage data access controls across the data platform (Unity Catalog, RBAC, row/column-level security, service principal management)</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Own data retention and residency policies; implement lifecycle management</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Build and maintain the metadata and catalog layer for data discoverability and lineage</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Partner with other governance teams to translate compliance requirements into data platform controls</li> </ul> About You: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience building data governance programs in a modern cloud lakehouse environment</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Hands-on experience with data quality and observability tooling</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience with access control patterns in cloud data platforms (RBAC, row/column-level security)</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience implementing compliance requirements end-to-end (ex: SOC2, FedRAMP, GDPR) from policy interpretation to platform controls</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Comfortable driving standards, building frameworks, and influencing practices cross-functionally without direct authority</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong opinions about data contracts and producer/consumer accountability</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Strong opinions about decentralized data governance</li> </ul> Nice to Have: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience implementing data governance within Databricks (Unity Catalog)</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Experience implementing data governance in both a product and internal context (customer-owned data vs. MaintainX-owned data)</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Familiarity with data mesh principles and domain-oriented data ownership</li> </ul> What’s in it for you: <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Competitive salary and meaningful equity opportunities.</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Healthcare, dental, and vision coverage.</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">401(k) / RRSP enrollment program.</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Take what you need PTO.</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">A Work<a href="https://crew.vc/perspectives-insights/scaling-culture-through-hyper-growth/"> Culture</a> where:</li> <ul> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">You’ll work alongside folks across the globe that reflect the MaintainX values, Smart Humble Optimist</li> <li style="font-size: 10pt;">We believe in meritocracy, where ideas and effort are publicly celebrated</li> </ul> </ul> <hr>About Us: Our mission is to make the life of blue-collar workers easier worldwide by creating software that meets their needs and realities.
