Job Overview

The HRTD Principal Leadership Coach provides onboarding support and ongoing mentorship to all new and existing principals, at all levels throughout the division. This position will provide support, coaching and professional development on leadership development, performance management, change management, organizational development, and feedback and assessment.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with senior leaders, focusing on professional development, leadership skills, and personal growth.
  • Develop customized coaching plans that address the unique needs and goals of each leader.
  • Provide a confidential and supportive environment to discuss sensitive and complex issues.
  • Assist leaders in identifying and leveraging their strengths, addressing areas for improvement, and achieving their professional goals.
  • Facilitate the development of critical leadership competencies and behaviors aligned with the job specific performance evaluation standards.
  • Support leaders in developing strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Assist leaders with enhancement of their performance management skills, including goal setting, feedback, and team development.
  • Guide leaders in improving communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution within their teams.
  • Support leaders in managing organizational change and driving culture and climate transformation.
  • Provide coaching on navigating complex organizational dynamics and stakeholder relationships.
  • Utilize assessment tools and feedback mechanisms to provide leaders with insights into their leadership styles and impact.
  • Assist leaders in interpreting and acting on feedback from 360-degree assessments, performance reviews, and other sources.

Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Education

Master's degree in education from an accredited university or college

Experience

10 years experience as a school based leader and/or leadership coach

Licenses and Certifications

Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in PK-12 administration and supervision preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction, curriculum, student learning and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the laws
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators, students, parents, staff, and public
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and materials
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and best practices of professional learning facilitation
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Salary Level:Banded Rates

Salary Scale: https://www.lcps.org/compensation

Salary Range: Band 24 - $85.73

Remote Work Eligible: Partial

Remote Work Disclosure

Employees who perform the responsibilities of the above position have been identified as having the potential to telework. Telework is defined as completing one's duties and responsibilities at a site other than one's assigned duty location. In order to be eligible for telework privileges, an employee must have demonstrated consistent, positive performance and have the support and approval of their direct supervisor. In addition, these employees must have reliable high-speed internet and a designated workspace that allows them privacy while completing sensitive and confidential work. Employees who are non-exempt and are teleworking will work their required scheduled hours and gain approval from their supervisor if they work more than 8 hours a day or more than 40 hours in a workweek. Teleworking privileges can be amended, changed, or revoked based upon the performance of the employee, as well as the needs of Loudoun County Public Schools.
