The Opportunity
We are hiring a Nursing Intern to support our full-time Registered Nurse and assist with day-to-day clinic operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a current nursing student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in primary care while contributing to a close-knit team.
What You'll Do
Clinical Support (under the supervision of our Registered Nurse)
- Assist with patient intake: vital signs, brief history-taking, and chart preparation
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies between patients
- Assist with minor procedures, injections, dressings, and specimen collection (within scope and under supervision)
- Provide patient education and follow-up support as directed
- Supplies reprocessing in Autoclave
- Engage in clinical research
- Presentation of health topics in conjunction with the Lopes Health & Safety Team
- Maintain infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards
General Office Management
- Greet patients, manage check-in and check-out, and answer phones
- Schedule appointments and maintain the clinic calendar
- Update and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and patient files
- Process referrals, lab requisitions, and follow-up correspondence
- Monitor and order clinical and office supplies
- Support billing and other administrative tasks as directed
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an Ontario RPN or RN program accredited by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Eligible for student or graduate registration with the CNO (or able to obtain it before starting)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Comfortable with computers and willing to learn our EMR system
Preferred
- Previous clinical placement or medical office experience
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as OSCAR, Accuro, or PS Suite
- French or other second language
Pre-Employment Requirements The successful candidate will be required to provide, prior to start date:
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Up-to-date immunization records (including TB screening) per Ontario clinic guidelines
- Two professional or academic references
Pay: $24.04-$51.88 per hour
