Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC. We specialize in high-profile political projects—including The Bulwark, Home of the Brave, and Republican Voters Against Trump—and we're looking for a Video Editor to support our growing video and podcast production work. If you're a sharp editor who follows politics closely, knows what makes political content cut through, and wants your work to reach large audiences and matter in the real world, this role is for you. About the Role As a Video Editor at Longwell Partners, you'll play a central role in producing compelling video content for our expanding digital presence. That means editing full-length podcast episodes for YouTube, creating clips from weekly productions, and producing standalone short-form videos built for social. You'll support the work of our commentators and contributors, and help drive our clients' YouTube channels and social media feeds. You'll work closely with our communications and creative teams and be expected to move fast without cutting corners. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when news breaks, is part of this role. Your Responsibilities Edit full-length podcast episodes for YouTube, including multi-cam setups, graphics, and audio cleanup. Create and optimize short-form clips from podcast productions and other long-form content for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok. Craft attention-grabbing thumbnails and draft video titles that are accurate, on-brand, and built to perform. Monitor the daily news cycle to identify timely content opportunities and turn around video quickly when the moment calls for it. Organize and maintain video files, project assets, and archives. Collaborate with communications and creative teams to ensure finished content aligns with project goals and messaging. What We're Looking For 2+ years of professional video editing experience, ideally in a news, political commentary, or fast-paced digital media environment. Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop; experience with After Effects and Audition is a plus. Genuine passion for politics and current events; you follow the news closely and understand the context behind what you're editing. Proven experience editing podcasts for video, including multi-cam setups and familiarity with podcast-specific editing workflows. Demonstrated ability to create engaging, platform-native short-form content for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Fast and reliable under deadline pressure, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to working within established style and brand guidelines. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as news breaks and content demands. Ability to be in the office (downtown DC) five days a week. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with podcast recording and editing platforms such as Riverside, and editing tools and plugins such as AutoPod, that streamline audio cleanup and editing workflows. Familiarity with livestreaming platforms such as Restream or StreamYard. Deep understanding of YouTube optimization, including titles, thumbnails, descriptions, and pacing. Background in political media, advocacy, or news organizations.
