Position Description: Casual Phlebotomist
Lifespan Medical is a preventative health clinic in North Vancouver, specializing in early detection, longevity, and comprehensive health assessments. Our clinic offers advanced diagnostic services including blood testing, DEXA body composition scans, ultrasound, ECG, and VO2 max testing. Our Care Model
Lifespan has developed an innovative private-pay healthcare model where patients are supported by a multi-disciplinary care team consisting of a Family Physician, Endocrinologist, Radiologist, Nurse, Phlebotomist, Sonographer, Exercise Physiologist and Dietician – all Canadian certified in their field of expertise.
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our clinical team in a casual capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and preparing blood samples for diagnostic testing, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for patients, and assisting in maintaining a well-organized and efficient laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture blood draws in a safe, accurate, and timely manner
- Perform standardized blood processing protocols (spinning, aliquoting)
- Label, document, and prepare blood specimens for transport
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in all phlebotomy areas
- Track specimen collection and ensure compliance with clinic protocols
- Perform other duties such as ECG administration, measuring vitals, continuous glucose monitor application, and basic administrative tasks when needed
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to a positive patient experience
Qualifications
· Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) from a BCSLS-approved program is required
· Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or outpatient setting
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Comfortable working with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
· Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an asset
· CPR certification is an asset

- Willingness to provide coverage for planned and unplanned absences within the core phlebotomy team
- Flexible times and ability to cover vacation relief, sick days and other casual requirements – sometimes on short notice
