About the Job
As a Senior Mobile (Android) Build and Release Engineer on the Life360 Engineering team, you will help keep the Mobile CI/CD pipeline running at top speed. We need smart and passionate engineers who are obsessed with squeezing every bit of performance out of a build system and ensuring we safely deliver our apps to market. You will work with app developers and test engineers to provide consistent, high-confidence delivery through our CI/CD pipelines.
For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $123,000 to 180,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is 145,000 to 169,500 CAD. Note: Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do
- Build, maintain, and operate our mobile app CI/CD pipelines
- Operate our build infrastructure, including working with vendor partners
- Create the next-generation developer tooling and infrastructure for Life360’s mobile apps, focusing on productivity, testing, and release
- Track and monitor the usage/consumption of Infrastructure services; ensure performance, SLA, and cost control adherence
- Develop telemetry and alerting for opportunities to improve build infrastructure and tooling, and execute on them
- Monitor and fix build pipelines, identify bottlenecks, and make improvements
- Collaborate with leadership and key partners regularly
- Keep the build pipelines updated as newer versions of Android are released
- Making developers happy and productive is at the core of your mission
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience
- Proficient in one system language like Kotlin or Java and scripting languages like Python, Go, Ruby
- Experience with build tools like Gradle or Maven
- Experience with containerizing build workloads
- Experience with Fastlane deployment
- Experience with Mobile App Distribution to the Google Play Store
- Experience with developing automated internal frameworks, increasing developer and release velocity, improving code health, and building developer tools
- Experience with CI/CD principles, architecture, and operations
- Working experience with Buildkite, Jenkins, CircleCI or other CI/CD platforms
- Strong understanding of Android development, networking, log analysis tools, and app release
