Job Description

Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.
Legend Biotech is seeking an Research & Development Intern as part of the Novel Car Design team based in Somerset, NJ.
Role Overview
This internship will focus on advancing our assessment of in vivo CAR T cell platform. This role will provide hands-on experience in preclinical research and adoptive cell therapy, providing the intern with the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge experiments and data analysis that drive innovation in our research program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of laboratory experiments, including mammalian cell culture, virus preparation, and immunological and biochemical assays.
- Perform transfections for virus production and assess viral titers using flow cytometry–based and ELISA-based assays.
- Conduct PBMC transduction and perform immunoassays to screen and validate candidates with improved efficacy and safety profiles.
- Perform cytotoxicity assays, immunophenotyping, and cytokine analyses.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, data, and observations in laboratory notebooks.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare summaries and reports for team discussions.
- Collaborate with senior scientists and team members to troubleshoot, optimize, and refine experimental protocols.
- Candidate is encouraged to provide technical approaches and troubleshooting strategies, but all experimental plans, data interpretation, and project-related decisions require review and approval by the manager or designated mentor.
- Decisions regarding project scope, timelines, resource allocation, and overall strategic direction remain under management oversight and are aligned with overall business pipeline priorities.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor’s, Master’s program in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field.
- Preferred to have basic laboratory skills with some hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture (immune cells) and other standard molecular biology techniques, including flow cytometry, qPCR/ddPCR, ELISA, and immunoassays. The ideal candidate would also have some cellular therapy experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Prefer the candidate to have some knowledge of data analysis tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint), Graphpad Prism, and potentially R and Python.
