Job Description

We are a 35-year-old boutique law firm located in Vaughan, representing Canadian financial institutions. Over the past year, our firm has doubled in size, and we continue to grow. As part of our expansion, we are seeking a Junior Civil Litigation Law Clerk who is eager to learn, highly detail-oriented, and interested in building a long-term career with our firm.

This is an entry-level to junior position, ideal for someone early in their law clerk career who is motivated to grow in a supportive and collaborative environment. We offer a collegial workplace, full health benefits, and on-site parking.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining civil litigation files, ensuring documents are accurate and deadlines are met
  • Draft and revise basic litigation documents, including pleadings, motion materials, and correspondence, with guidance and supervision
  • Prepare and file court documents through the Justice Services Online (JSO) portal
  • Assist with uploading and organizing materials for virtual hearings on CaseLines
  • Support the discovery process, including document collection, review, and organization
  • Provide general administrative support which includes (but is not limited to) file openings, scanning, photocopying, filing, and data entry

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail
  • Law clerk or palalegal diploma required
  • 1–2 years of experience working in Canada as a civil litigation law clerk or legal assistant (newer law clerks are encouraged to apply)
  • Basic familiarity with civil litigation procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Some exposure to CaseLines, JSO, and electronic document management systems
  • Strong written communication skills and willingness to develop legal drafting abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience in mortgage enforcement is an asset, but not required

Salary

$45,000 + depending on your experience and skills
