As a Mainframe DB2 DBA with IMS DB2 DBA skills at Kyndryl, you will play a crucial role in managing and administering the backbone of the technological infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Configure, install, and maintain database management systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage user access and implement high standards of security to protect valuable data.
- Develop backup and recovery plans as a disaster recovery guru.
- Support end users and application developers in solving complex database system problems.
- Implement policies and procedures to safeguard data from external threats.
- Conduct capacity planning and growth projections for scalability.
- Coordinate systematic database project plans with various teams to align with organizational goals.
- Propose and implement enhancements for improved performance and reliability.
- Perform major data refreshes from production to test environments.
- Responsible for all DBA activities including backup, load, reorg, and performance enhancement.
- Implement DB2 objects in various environments from TEST through PROD.
- Deliver all DB2 related housekeeping jobs and schedule them in production.
- Add or modify user permissions to databases.
- Schedule regular DB maintenance operations based on workload patterns.
- Play a critical role in design, build, implementation, upgrade, and optimization of DB2 databases.
- Implement solutions for DB2 database backup and recovery infrastructure.
- Monitor, maintain, and upgrade DB2 database; assist application team with performance tuning initiatives and builds.
- Research problems independently and provide solutions.
- Perform DBA support functions for high-volume Production DB2 subsystems.
- Handle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery responsibilities for primary and secondary Production environments.
- Participate in on-call and off-hours support coverage.
- Assist application teams with technical advice and diagnosis of SQL errors.
- Assist with data refresh requirements in testing environments.
- Perform application DBA functions (maintain and implement DDL, handle image copy, and maintenance activities) for all testing environments.
- Support migration of DDL across environments to Production.
- Experience with IBM utilities and JCL.
- Research problems independently and provide solutions.
- Experience with BMC database tools.
- Generate and approve PSB, ACB, DBDs.
- Checkpoint reviews for BMP programs.
- IMS DB shutdown and delete PSB and transaction in IMS.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in Mainframe DB2 DBA with IMS DB2 DBA skills.
- Around 3 years of hands-on database administration experience with IBM DB2.
- In-depth knowledge of DB2 utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTAT, REORG, COPY.
- Experience working with IBM Admin tool suite, Query Monitor, BMC database tools.
- Strong understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery for primary and secondary Production environments.
- Ability to independently research problems and provide solutions.
- Experience with IBM utilities and JCL.
- Proficiency in capacity planning, performance tuning, and system optimization.
- Experience with database security and user access control.
- Experience managing large-scale on-call and off-hours support coverage.
