High School Theater Teacher (26‑27 SY)

Teachers at KIPP DC lead academically rigorous, identity‑affirming classrooms dedicated to student learning and well‑being. As a High School Lead Teacher, you’ll plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction, foster an inclusive classroom culture, collaborate with grade‑level and content teams, communicate with families, and contribute to school‑wide culture and community.

Teach engaging, standards‑aligned lessons informed by student data.

Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to plan instruction and respond to student needs.

Contribute to schoolwide culture and community.

Optionally mentor a Capital Teaching Resident, design theater arts lessons, and serve as lead director for school productions, overseeing casting, rehearsals, technical design, budgets, and performance processes.

Bachelor’s degree.

Commitment to working with students from communities with limited access to high‑quality educational opportunities.

At least one year of teaching experience in a PreK3-12 school or a teacher‑degree program with full‑classroom responsibility.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.

Strong background in the content area / grade band you will teach.

Experience teaching in an urban K‑12 public school.

Strong communication skills with families and caregivers and culturally responsive partnership.

Ability to manage all phases of a high school production.

Participate in occasional school events outside traditional hours.
