Job Description

The Performance Blog is a primary resource for audience members, artistic collaboration, critical dialogue, and theatre practitioners. Our platform consolidates events, news, artists, and organizations in the southeastern Ontario area in an accessible and accountable manner that the region has never seen before. The writing team is looking for a Junior Editor who is passionate about the arts in Kingston and committed to questioning who and what criticism is FOR, all while building a stronger sector for live performance in the region.

Responsibilities

Work with the Editor to edit and publish articles and other media content, such as podcasts.

Collaborate with the Editor to facilitate meetings with the blog team.

Perform administrative tasks, such as updates to the KTA website and ticket coordination.

Attend meetings with the leadership team to provide blog updates and collaborate on the coordination of KTA initiatives.

Assist in grant applications as a writer and editor.

Create social media content in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator.

Research Kingston arts and provide publication ideas.

Approve publication ideas from writers that align with the KTA mission.

Ensure a fast turnaround for articles.

Represent the blog in a professional manner when attending events.

Requirements

Writing and editing experience.

Detail-oriented, strong time management, and organizational skills.

Experience in a leadership role.

Passion for live performance and a desire to inspire community engagement with theatre and other forms of live performance in Kingston.

Thrives while working within a small and passionate collaborative writing team.

Experience with and knowledge of marketing practices.

Dates: 10-15 hours weekly.

Compensation: $21.65 - $24.00.
