King Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team as a Referral Services Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for an RVT who thrives in a leadership role, enjoys working across a variety of specialty services, and is passionate about advancing both patient care and team development in a referral setting.
About Us
King Animal Hospital is a privately owned, state-of-the-art referral and emergency hospital serving both equine and small animal patients. Our 60,000 sq. ft. facility on 50 acres in King City, Ontario is equipped with advanced diagnostics and supported by a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
You’ll work alongside board-certified specialists in cardiology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology, rehabilitation, and internal medicine—supporting a wide range of complex and rewarding cases while helping unify and strengthen our referral services team.
What You’ll Do
As the Referral Services Lead RVT, you will be a key clinical leader supporting both patient care and team performance across multiple specialty departments:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination for RVTs and ACAs across referral services
- Support workflow efficiency, case flow, and interdepartmental communication
- Act as a mentor and coach, supporting training, onboarding, and skill development
- Assist with performance feedback, coaching conversations, and team development initiatives
- Collaborate with specialists and leadership to identify process improvements and training opportunities
- Participate in patient care across services, supporting a variety of complex specialty cases
- Help ensure consistency in standards of care, protocols, and patient safety practices
- Contribute to rounds, case discussions, and team meetings across departments
- Support staffing coordination and help address coverage needs when required
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and growth-focused team culture
What We’re Looking For
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the OAVT
- Minimum 4–6 years of clinical experience (referral or emergency experience preferred
- Previous leadership, mentorship, or senior RVT experience is an asset
- Strong interest in specialty and referral medicine
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt and lead across multiple services and teams
- Confident, compassionate, and composed in a fast-paced environment
