Job Description
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Tysons, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for a high-volume, multi-entity workforce across multiple states
- Support federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and deposits
- Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliations and reporting
- Investigate and respond to payroll tax notices, penalties, and agency inquiries
- Administer wage garnishments, child support, and other payroll deductions
- Support certified payroll reporting and compliance requirements as needed
- Partner with internal teams to improve payroll processes and system efficiencies
- Participate in cross-training and rotational payroll responsibilities
- Contribute to special projects and additional payroll initiatives as assigned
- Minimum of 3+ years of in-house payroll experience
- Experience supporting large employee populations (1,000+ employees)
- Experience supporting payroll for a multi-state employee population
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, filings, and reconciliations (including 941s and year-end processes)
- Familiarity with wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and compliance standards
- Proficiency with payroll systems and strong Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong customer service mindset and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
- Exposure to certified payroll or regulated payroll environments
- Industry experience in a complex or regulated environment
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
