Salary Range : 35k to 50K ( Based on Experience )
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and field-oriented Procurement Officer to manage sourcing of fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers, mandis, and vendors. The role focuses on ensuring consistent quality, competitive pricing, and efficient farm-to-market supply with minimal wastage.
Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing & Vendor Management
· Procure fruits and vegetables from farmers, mandis, FPOs, and aggregators
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
· Identify and onboard new sourcing partners and regions
Procurement Operations
· Plan and execute procurement based on demand forecasts
· Oversee grading, sorting, and packing at collection points
· Ensure timely procurement during peak and off-season periods
Pricing & Negotiation
· Negotiate pricing, quality standards, and delivery timelines
· Track mandi prices, arrivals, and seasonal trends
· Implement cost-effective sourcing strategies
Supply Chain & Quality
· Coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery (harvest-to-shelf)
· Maintain quality standards (size, grading, freshness)
· Minimize wastage through proper handling and storage practices
Market & Inventory Management
· Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking
· Track market trends, crop patterns, and price fluctuations
· Align procurement with demand planning
Field Operations
· Travel regularly to farms, mandis, and sourcing locations
· Conduct vendor meetings, negotiations, and quality checks
· Build strong on-ground supplier networks
Key Requirements
· 2–5 years of experience in procurement (fresh produce/FMCG preferred)
· Strong exposure to mandi markets and vendor networks
· Good understanding of perishable supply chain and inventory management
· Strong negotiation, communication, and coordination skills
· Willingness to travel extensively for field operations
· Proficiency in local languages preferred
Preferred Skills
· Knowledge of grading, sorting, and post-harvest handling
· Understanding of crop cycles and seasonal trends
· Experience in HORECA, retail, or agri supply chains
· Basic knowledge of Excel or ERP tools
