Job Description

Senior Electrical Project Manager

The Opportunity

A high-growth, Calgary-based electrical contracting company is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Manager to join their expanding team. This is not your typical PM role — this is a seat at the table of a fast-moving company that is scaling quickly and doing it right.

You will take full ownership of electrical project delivery across a diverse mix of commercial builds and multi-family residential developments (including multi-family-to-housing conversions), leading a team that includes two Project Managers/Coordinators reporting directly to you.

If you thrive in a dynamic environment, love solving complex problems, and want to be part of something that's genuinely growing — read on.

About the Company

This is a well-capitalized, Calgary-based electrical contracting firm with a team of 50+ skilled electricians and support staff delivering high-quality electrical installations, data networking, and integrated security systems across Western Canada. Founded recently and already operating at scale — this company is not slowing down.

Project mix of Residential, Commercial, Multi-family & multi-family conversion to housing

Culture here is team-first, fast-paced, and results-driven. They value people who show up with energy, take ownership, and make things happen.

What You'll Do

  • Lead assigned electrical projects from kickoff through closeout and final client handoff
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, documentation, and overall performance
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality, profitability, and client satisfaction
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
  • Identify and address risks early to protect schedule, margin, and project outcomes
  • Work closely with clients, engineers, consultants, foremen, and internal teams to ensure alignment and successful execution
  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and related project documentation with urgency and accuracy
  • Ensure cost impacts are clearly communicated and approved before work proceeds whenever possible
  • Coordinate procurement planning with the Purchasing Manager for long-lead materials and project-specific needs
  • Review material requests and takeoffs to support field productivity and cost control
  • Manage labour planning and manpower allocation across projects
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and accountability to foremen, electricians, and field teams
  • Keep field teams informed on project updates, revisions, scheduling changes, and client expectations
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, safety, workmanship, and team coordination
  • Coordinate inspections, disconnects/reconnects, meter requests, CT installs, permitting, and municipal requirements as needed
  • Review and approve foremen-submitted hours for payroll accuracy and timely processing
  • Maintain accurate project records, schedules, budgets, reports, and internal documentation
  • Lead closeout activities including deficiencies, turnover packages, O&M manuals, and final documentation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company quality standards
  • Participate in post-project reviews to support continuous improvement and team development
  • Represent the company professionally in all client, supplier, field, and internal interactions

What You Bring

  • 5–10+ years of experience in electrical project management, electrical construction, or related field leadership
  • Proven track record managing electrical projects with full responsibility for schedule, budget, and execution
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, project sequencing, and field operations
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong financial and operational knowledge — budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and change management
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, estimates, and schedules
  • Knowledge of permitting, inspections, code compliance, and municipal/utility coordination
  • Proficiency in Procore, Google Workspace, QuickBooks Projects, or similar PM software
  • Advanced Excel proficiency — you use it confidently, not reluctantly
  • PMP certification is an asset
  • Journeyman Electrician certification or strong field-based electrical experience is a strong asset

Who You Are

Beyond the resume, here's who actually thrives in this role:

  • You're a confident leader who takes ownership and doesn't wait to be told what to do
  • You can balance field realities with project financial performance without breaking a sweat
  • You build trust with clients, crews, and internal teams through clear and honest communication
  • You stay ahead of problems — you're not putting out fires, you're preventing them
  • You bring energy and enthusiasm to the work — this isn't just a job to you
