Job Description

We are seeking a Platform Engineer with strong cloud engineering expertise to design, build, and manage modern, scalable infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. This role partners with cross-functional teams to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and support product and technology initiatives.

Location: Hybrid (Baltimore, MD – onsite Tues/Wed/Thurs preferred) or remote.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions in Azure using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Build automation scripts using Azure CLI, PowerShell, and Bash to streamline deployments, scaling, and infrastructure management.
  • Deploy and manage microservices-based applications in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using Kubernetes, YAML, and Helm.
  • Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions with disaster recovery planning and cost optimization.
  • Monitor system performance using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and related tools; implement observability via metrics, logging, and tracing.
  • Analyze capacity, optimize performance, and ensure systems handle growth and traffic spikes.
  • Troubleshoot Azure-native services including API Management, Azure Functions, Storage, Service Bus, Key Vault, Container Apps, App Services, and Azure SQL.
  • Respond to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and lead post-incident reviews.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed reliability and DevOps best practices into the SDLC.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub to deploy infrastructure and applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in Azure networking components including Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, VPN Gateways, Network Security Groups, and ExpressRoute.
  • Experience managing Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, AD Connect, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Azure Automation, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Server.
  • Experience with AKS cluster design and management.
  • Proficiency in Windows environments and ability to work in Linux environments.
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of serverless deployments and associated toolchains.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Certifications

Azure Administrator, Azure Developer, Azure Architect, Azure DevOps, Terraform, MCSE, Security+.
