Compensation Information:
- Base Salary: Starting @ $100K (paid hourly with eligibility for overtime)

Kalmar USA is looking for an experienced Product Support Engineer, Port & Terminal Equipment to join our team. The ideal candidate should reside within commuting distance to Pier 400 in San Pedro, CA and have enhanced technical & leadership skills (mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics).
This position is responsible for providing maintenance & repair service to Kalmar brand container handling equipment at the customer site. This person will also act as the Kalmar Ambassador at the customer site and will be responsible for assisting personnel in the field and completing necessary documentation (report of labor, work orders, and inspection reports).
What are your key responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Electronics diagnosis & repair of port & terminal container handling equipment (Kalmar and other brands); regular preventative maintenance, as scheduled; evaluate and assist with warranty claims; install software upgrades; program and test electronic equipment for spare parts/warranties
- Equipment Commissioning: assist with the commissioning of new equipment- ensure equipment is operating according to specifications;
- Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding the diagnosis and repair problems experienced in the field; conduct product training for the customer; maintain high level of customer satisfaction by delivering on promises in a timely and orderly fashion
- Documentation: complete detailed documentation (reports of labor, work orders, warranty documentation, inspections and maintenance logs); provide the customer with equipment service manuals and other materials according to contract specifications; must be capable of using Google Suite as well as, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
- Collaboration: relay design or functional problems identified in field operations to Engineering; provide Sales/Engineering team with customer feedback regarding their needs and any problems; assist with production projects as needed

What you bring to the role:
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field preferred; Technical diploma/certificate preferred; high school diploma or GED required; must have valid driver’s license; US Passport and TWIC Card
- Technical Expertise: Minimum 5 years' experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electronics and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s, preferably Siemens) for heavy equipment; ability to read/understand blueprints/schematics; able to work comfortably/safely at elevated heights; ability to use hand, air & electric hand tools; PLC programming certification/experience, Siemens preferred; specific experience with motors, controls, PLC's, hydraulics, steel work and/or rigging is helpful; experience leading a team of technicians / engineers;
- Preference will be given Veterans and candidates with maintenance/repair experience on the following brands of heavy equipment: Kalmar, Taylor, MiJack and/or Remprex
