Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research

university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working

together as one university.

The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering is

seeking a Digital Marketing Manager. Reporting to the

Associate Dean of Marketing and Communications, this position

develops and executes online strategies to enhance brand presence,

drive traffic, and increase engagement across digital channels. The

Digital Marketing Manager will oversee social media, email

marketing, WordPress websites, and web and social analytics, while

managing content calendars, and performance reporting to meet

business goals.

The Digital Marketing Manager will design and lead

communication efforts for a designated division, department, or

center and oversee communications and marketing strategies and

tactics to support strategic goals. The Digital Marketing Manager

will develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy

to support the designated area's strategic priorities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the internal communications lead for a division,

department or center.

  • Develop an internal communications plan for the designated

area’s strategic plan including relevant reports, events, memos,

and websites.

  • Plan, create, oversee, and edit internal communications

strategies to keep faculty, staff, and students informed about

important initiatives, goals, and events.

  • Ensure the efficiency and efficacy of communications between

school leadership and faculty, staff, students, and other

stakeholders.

  • Follow established university branding standards in all

communications.

  • Liaise with members of related communication teams.
  • Write clear and effective content for audiences.
  • Pivot writing styles based on the format, message, audience,

and purpose.

  • Lead the development of a cohesive internal communications

strategy that builds community and positions the designated area as

a vital part of the university.

  • Develop and maintain an internal communications calendar,

ensuring efficient coordination of communications activities

  • Manage print and digital collateral.
  • Curate content from websites, social media, and news media to

amplify the strategic plan across multiple platforms.

  • Advise and work with the communications team to write remarks

and messages for leadership.

  • Plan and create templates for internal crisis communications

announcements, e.g. building closures and other emergencies.

  • Edit content and manage editors for internal websites and

SharePoint sites.

  • Contract and manage external vendors as needed.
  • Interact with communications experts across the university on

various issues and best practices.

  • Execute strategies for cross-divisional communications efforts

with other communications offices.

  • Ensure consistent use of university brand standards across all

projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

Social Media Strategy

  • Working with team, develop and execute organic social media

strategies across a variety of channels for the Whiting School and

appropriate other products as needed.

  • Utilize tools like Adobe Creative Suit/Canva to create/edit

content for social channels.

  • Execute paid social media strategies as needed.

Web Management

  • Create, maintain and update web content on WordPress

websites.

  • Oversee web content managers across school to ensure best

practices are being followed.

  • Serve as resource for communications staff across the division

for best practices.

  • Coordinate with development team/vendors on theme upgrades and

maintenance.

  • Have basic understanding of SEO/SEM and collaborate with SEO

vendor.

Digital communications

  • Oversee email platforms.
  • Manage internal email lists, support management of external

email lists; work with graphic design/branding team to ensure

content meets guidelines.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on digital KPI’s both web and social

using tools like Google Analytics and social platforms to optimize

and report on performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and

additional related experience may substitute for required education

beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent

permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in digital communications, digital

marketing, social media management, or a related field.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication

skills for content creation and team collaboration.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized

Certifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word,

PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • WordPress (experience with ACF a plus), Adobe

Photoshop/Premiere (or equivalents), Email Marketing Services.

HTML/CSS a plus. Google Tag Manager a plus.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret data and turn

insights into actionable marketing strategies. Knowledge of

dashboards, Power BI a plus

  • Social Media: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit,

YouTube, TikTok and relevant platforms

  • Project Management: (e.g., Asana, Trello)

Starting Salary Range: $73,300 - $128,300 Annually (Commensurate

w/exp.)

laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving

community contact requires documentation of immune status against

Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella

(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the

Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include

documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella

vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory

testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are

ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for

those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization

documentation from their own health care providers. Any

vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost

in our Occupational Health office.
