Systems Engineer (Linux & Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: Macon, GA (Hybrid M-F, Tuesday &Thursday onsite, rest of the days in week remote)

Employment Type: Long term Contract

Shift: General shift 7:00 AM 4:00 PM ET (1-hour common break)

Primary Focus: Linux | Secondary: AIX, AWS, Storage & Backup

Role Overview

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to drive our modern infrastructure roadmap. While the primary focus is on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and automation, the ideal candidate will have strong secondary skills in IBM AIX to support existing enterprise workloads. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between on-premise hardware and AWS cloud services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary (Linux): Manage the full lifecycle of Linux server fleets (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), focusing on security hardening, performance tuning, and automated provisioning.
  • Cloud & AIX Support: Serve as a secondary administrator for IBM AIX systems and a core contributor to AWS infrastructure management (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch).
  • Storage & Continuity: Oversee SAN/NAS storage allocation and implement robust Storage/Backup policies to ensure 99.9% uptime and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Automation-First: Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation to minimize manual intervention.
  • Monitoring: Implement monitoring solutions (Nagios, Zabbix, or AWS CloudWatch) to track system health and resource utilization.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in IT or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of Linux System Administration (RHCSA or RHCE preferred).
  • Cross-Platform: Working knowledge of AIX 7.x internals, including LVM and user administration.
  • Cloud: Proven experience managing production workloads in AWS.
