ECS is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to work remotely.
The ideal resource will have experience with: AWS, Python, Bash, Terraform, GitLab, Kubernetes, Linux, XML, along with an AWS certification.
We are seeking a remote Software Engineer with experience in the research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs. The software Engineer will analyze user needs, develop software solution, update software, and enhance existing software capabilities. The software Engineer will be part of a mission critical team advancing technology for out federal clients next generation of environmental data. Work is normally performed in a remote work arrangement.
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- Create, manage, and deploy containers to ensure efficient, consistent, and scalable application operations across various environments.
- Confer with system analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
- Determine system performance standards.
- Develop or direct software systems testing or validation procedures, programming, or documentation.
- Monitor functionality of equipment to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications.
- Responsible for configuration management of requirements, code, and software configuration, and advise users on the CM policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain CM processes, plans, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), work instructions, and other documents.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $135,000

- Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of Software Engineering experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline development.
- Extensive experience using GitLab.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of software applications.
- Experience with OpenShift for containerization and Kubernetes.
- Strong scripting language skills required. (Python and Bash)
- Experience with SCM concepts and methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of branching, merging, and baseline strategies.
- Ability to work well with others, collaborate, and communicate effectively.
Desired Skills
- Experience with containerization technologies.
- Experience developing software configuration standards for organizational use.
- Experience building software written in C/C++ or Fortran, preferably in a Linux environment.
- Bash, Perl, or Python is preferred.
- Artifactory experience is desired.
- Active certifications such as: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Solution Architect.
- Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, and DevSecOps framework.
