Computer Operator for Mining

A Computer Operator monitors and manages computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment to ensure optimal performance and uptime. They are responsible for data entry, running daily backups, troubleshooting, and maintaining system logs. They often work in data centers and require strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• System Monitoring: Supervise console displays for data processing, networks, and hardware malfunctions.
• Data Management: Enter, update, and retrieve information from company databases, ensuring data integrity.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on hardware (printers, scanners) and software installations/updates.
• Backup & Security: Execute data backups to prevent data loss and follow security protocols.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve or elevate hardware/software issues and user issues.
• Reporting: Generate reports on system performance and document daily activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with many employers preferring an associate’s degree or IT certifications.
• Experience: Previous experience in computer operations, data entry, or a related role.
• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic understanding of Windows/UNIX systems.
• Skills: High typing accuracy, attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to work under pressure.
