Food World Supermarket is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef specializing in Arabic, Syrian and Middle Eastern cuisine, with strong expertise in shawarma, rotisserie meats, kebabs and grilled meats production. The Sous Chef will support daily kitchen operations, ensure authenticity and consistency in flavors, maintain high food safety standards, and lead kitchen staff in delivering fresh, high‑quality ready‑to‑eat and grab‑and‑go meals.

Key Responsibilities

Menu Development & Promotions

  • Develop and enhance Middle Eastern menu offerings including shawarma, kebabs, grilled meats, mezze platters, rice dishes, and fresh breads.
  • Design promotional packages, family platters, combo meals, seasonal specials, and festive menus.
  • Standardize recipes, spice levels, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines for consistency and cost control.
  • Analyze customer preferences and introduce innovative dishes to drive sales and customer engagement.

Food Preparation & Production

  • Menu development and promotional packages.
  • Prepare and oversee authentic Middle Eastern dishes including shawarma (chicken, beef, lamb), rotisserie meats, grilled items, and traditional sides.
  • Manage vertical broilers and rotisserie equipment efficiently.
  • Prepare and supervise daily production of fresh traditional baked items.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, portion control, and presentation.
  • Maintain freshness and quality across all food counters.

Kitchen Operations

  • To manage all back‑of‑house operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels; support ordering and stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Control food costs and minimize waste.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of raw and cooked foods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, guide, and train kitchen staff on preparation techniques and recipes.
  • Ensure staff follow hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Support scheduling and workflow coordination during peak hours.

Customer Experience

  • Maintain a visible presence in the supermarket food counters.
  • Ensure food displays are attractive and well‑stocked.
  • Uphold company image through exceptional product quality and service standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in Middle Eastern cuisine.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with shawarma machines, rotisserie, grilling, and flatbread/pita production.
  • Knowledge of authentic Syrian, Turkish, Arabic, or Levantine recipes.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced supermarket or high‑volume kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Culinary certification is an asset.
