Radiology Technologist II, X-Ray (Signing Bonus Available)

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, the Radiology Technologist II is responsible for performing radiological procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis in the OR and in the X‑ray department as needed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and ensure diagnostic and accessory equipment is functioning properly.
• Assess requisitions for appropriate examinations, views, and equipment required.
• Obtain pertinent patient information.
• Liaise and coordinate with the attending radiologist and surgeon while in the OR.
• Ensure patients are informed about procedures and properly prepared prior to the commencement of exams.
• Select techniques to provide quality imaging while keeping radiation exposure to patients and staff as low as possible.
• Practice sterile technique when required.
• Perform clerical duties related to the care of the patient.

Hours of Work

75 hours biweekly; variable shift lengths; rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Your Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology.
• Current registration or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP).
• Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate.
• Paediatric imaging experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Well‑developed decision‑making, interpretation, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competency in other languages will be considered an asset.
