We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as Labour Relations Specialist. Our client, a well-established organization in Kanata, Ontario, is seeking a knowledgeable and confident Labour Relations Specialist to join their team. This role will play a key part in supporting positive union-management relations, advising leaders on collective agreement interpretation, and helping navigate grievance, investigation, and negotiation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR or labour relations professional who is strong in communication, balanced in approach, and confident operating in a fast-paced environment where sound judgment and credibility are critical.

Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day labour relations support to leaders across the organization
  • Interpret and apply collective agreements, policies, and employment-related legislation
  • Support grievance management including research, documentation, meeting preparation, responses, and follow-up
  • Partner with managers and HR teams on disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, performance issues, and attendance management
  • Act as a trusted advisor on unionized workforce matters while balancing operational needs and compliance requirements
  • Participate in labour-management meetings and help foster productive working relationships with union representatives
  • Support collective bargaining preparation including data gathering, issue tracking, language review, and strategy support
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, case summaries, briefing notes, and other labour relations documentation
  • Identify trends and provide recommendations to reduce risk, improve consistency, and strengthen employee relations practices
  • Support policy development, training, and education for leaders related to labour relations and employee relations best practices

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 5+ years of labour relations experience within a unionized environment
  • Strong working knowledge of collective agreement interpretation and labour relations practices
  • Experience supporting grievances, investigations, discipline, and employee relations matters
  • Solid understanding of applicable employment and labour legislation
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience preparing detailed documentation and reports

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
