Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Cloud Infrastructure Lead will spearhead the design, deployment, and management of enterprise GCP cloud infrastructure environments. This role demands deep GCP technical expertise combined with leadership skills to guide infrastructure teams, define standards, and ensure high availability, security, and performance of GCP platforms — including hybrid cloud environments connected to on-premises data centres.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▸ Lead the design and implementation of scalable GCP infrastructure including VPC, Shared VPC, and landing zones.
▸ Oversee GCP network topology design including Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, and on-prem connectivity.
▸ Manage infrastructure-as-code repositories using Terraform for GCP and enforce IaC best practices.
▸ Define and enforce GCP infrastructure standards, labelling policies, and operational procedures.
▸ Manage GKE cluster administration including node pools, Workload Identity, and cluster upgrades.
▸ Ensure SLA compliance with proactive monitoring using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Datadog.
▸ Collaborate with Security team to implement GCP security baseline, CIS benchmarks, and VPC Service Controls.
▸ Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and GCP cost optimization using Cloud Cost Management.
▸ Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management on GCP.
▸ Act as technical escalation point for GCP infrastructure-related issues.
▸ Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution on GCP.
▸ Manage GCP enterprise agreements, committed use discounts, and vendor escalations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS (GCP MANDATORY)
▸ 10+ years of IT experience with 6+ years in cloud infrastructure roles.
▸ Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — mandatory.
▸ Deep knowledge of GCP networking: VPC, Shared VPC, Cloud NAT, PSC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN.
▸ Proficiency in Terraform for GCP infrastructure provisioning and state management.
▸ Experience with GKE cluster administration and hybrid connectivity using Anthos.
▸ Hands-on experience with GCP IAM, Organization Policies, and resource hierarchy.
▸ Experience with hybrid cloud environments and on-prem to GCP connectivity.
▸ Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
▸ Experience with GCP monitoring and observability: Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus/Grafana.
PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE (AWS / AZURE CONSIDERED)
▸ Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud Network Engineer certification.
▸ Experience with Anthos for hybrid/multi-cloud infrastructure management.
▸ Knowledge of FinOps tools and GCP committed use discount strategies.
▸ AWS or Azure infrastructure experience (nice to have).
