What We’re Looking For:
Iridium is seeking a motivated Network Engineer I to join our Network Engineering team supporting a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. In this role, you’ll assist with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network infrastructure supporting satellite ground systems and communications environments. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers while developing technical knowledge and practical networking skills in a collaborative aerospace and telecommunications environment.
This position does not currently require a security clearance. However, future assignments, program requirements, or career progression opportunities may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in supporting network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and related systems
- Help monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity or configuration issues under the guidance of senior engineers
- Support implementation and maintenance activities for satellite ground and enterprise network environments
- Participate in network testing, validation, and system integration activities
- Contribute to documentation such as network diagrams, configuration records, procedures, and operational instructions
- Work with cross-functional teams to support network readiness and operational support activities
- Assist with analyzing network performance data and identifying potential issues or improvements
- Gain exposure to network security concepts, routing protocols, and infrastructure best practices
- Learn and apply networking standards and processes in support of mission-critical systems
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field
- General experience in or a basic knowledge of networking, telecommunications, or IT infrastructure support
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
- Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
- The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
- Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
- A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
- An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Exposure to networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, or firewalls
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or similar networking technologies
- Academic or personal experience working in Linux environments
- Familiarity with network monitoring or troubleshooting tools
- Exposure to Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- Interest in satellite communications, network operations, and ground system infrastructure
We’ll also need you to:
- Be able to travel up to 15%
- Be a U.S. Citizen
Work Environment
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

Under Iridium’s Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least three days per week (approximately 60%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.
