Grant Writer
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. The Grant Writer is part of IRC New Jersey's development team focused on identifying and applying for grant opportunities to sustain and grow programs that serve over 7,000 refugees and immigrants in northern New Jersey annually.
Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
Write and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
Manage grant calendars, submission deadlines, and documentation
Ensure compliance with funder guidelines and application protocols
Track funding status and maintain grant records in CRM or tracking systems
Support post-award reporting, outcome tracking, and renewal applications as needed
Bachelor's degree English, communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
Work Experience:
- 1+ year of experience writing successful grant proposals
- Exceptional writing, editing, and formatting skills
Experience with budgeting and financial justification in grant contexts
Familiarity with grant databases and portals (e.g., Grants.gov, Foundation Directory Online, SAM.Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
A combination of standard office environment and remote work. This is a hybrid position with a schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote work.
