Job Description
Hands-on Lead for BI & Data Architecture to drive our enterprise BI transformation. The role will own the Looker platform and co-own the enterprise data modeling strategy as we consolidate multiple BI tools (Looker, Tableau, OBIEE, etc.)
This position requires strong expertise in Looker, dimensional modeling, and multi-source data integration, particularly within retail and wholesale domains.
Key Responsibilities
Data and BI Leadership
Own end-to-end architecture and governance of the Looker platform
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data modelling
Migration of reports and dashboards from Tableau/OBIEE to Looker
Establish reusable semantic layers and BI standards
Optimize dashboard performance and query efficiency
Data Modeling & Architecture (Co-Ownership)
Partner with data engineering teams to design enterprise data models
Build scalable dimensional models (facts, dimensions, hierarchies)
Ensure consistency across multiple source systems
Define data interface standards and modeling best practices
Support cloud data warehouse design (BigQuery preferred)
Data Integration & Domain Alignment
Understand and model data from retail, wholesale, ERP, and custom systems
Ensure clean flow from ingestion → modeling → BI consumption
Identify upstream data quality gaps and recommend fixes
Support near-real-time and batch analytics use cases
Governance & Quality
Implement data governance and access controls in Looker
Ensure semantic consistency across BI assets
Establish data validation and reconciliation processes
Maintain BI performance and reliability SLAs
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead BI developers and analysts
Co-own data strategy with data engineering team
Collaborate with business stakeholders across Retail, Wholesale, and Supply Chain
Drive BI adoption and roadmap execution
Required Skills & Qualifications
3+ years in BI, Analytics Engineering, or Data Modeling
Strong hands-on experience with Looker and LookML (mandatory)
Advanced SQL expertise
Deep understanding of dimensional modeling (Kimball methodology)
Experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse
Proven experience migrating from Tableau, OBIEE, or similar BI tools
Strong experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems
Domain knowledge in Retail or Wholesale analytics
Good to Have
Experience with GCP ecosystem
Exposure to dbt or modern data stack
BigQuery performance tuning
Data governance frameworks
Experience in multi-tenant BI environments
Exposure to real-time analytics pipelines
