- *Position Highlights**:
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Data Scientist to join the Data Science team within our Strategic Analytics department. As a member of the team, you will be expected to leverage your skills to improve strategic and tactical decision making and to support the achievement of corporate priorities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Gaining deep understanding of relevant business processes as to define clear project objectives,
- Leading the design and execution of high quality, peer reviewed and reproducible data products,
- Obtaining buy-in around findings and proposed solutions,
- Contributing to the team’s continuous improvement efforts.
Most of our solutions are meant to augment the performance of internal groups at ICBC; your biggest challenge will be to design data products that are meaningful to them and that successfully integrates into their processes. Data products can range from the output of a research project to influence strategies to deploying a claim level predictive model to ensure optimal handling.
- *Position Requirements**:
- Through years of relevant experience, you have demonstrated leadership and creativity in defining and tackling complex problems using a wide array of methods and approaches.
- You are known for being a team player and your excellent analytical skills and critical thinking is complemented by effective communication skills.
- You have obtained your Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field that may include computer science, economics, or statistics and have related professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of data extraction, exploration and analysis tools such as Python, Spark and SQL is also required.
The Strategic Analytics department enables data-driven decision-making through the use of advanced analytics, statistical modelling, predictive analytics as well as program measurement and evaluation. - *Position Information**:
- ICBC provides comprehensive and flexible benefit coverage to all eligible employees including a defined benefit pension plan.
- Three options of health and dental coverage. Two of those options fully paid by ICBC and with access to Flex credits.
- 100% employer paid life insurance, long term disability and travel insurance.
- Sick leave plan - 100% of pay for a period of a maximum of 8 weeks plus 85% of your pay for a subsequent period of up to 9 weeks.

- ** Resident**- you will work at your primary in-office headquarters on all scheduled work days.
- ** Hybrid 8**- you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- ** Hybrid 10**- you will work a minimum of 10 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically one week in/one week out or up to 3 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- ** Mobile**- you will work a significant amount of time in the field, in addition to working from an office and optionally working remotely within British Columbia.
- ** Remote**- you will work remotely from within British Columbia, with one required visit to your primary office per month.
