Job Summary

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s network infrastructure, supporting users and systems across Canada and Mexico. Based in Toronto and working primarily on-site, this role ensures reliable connectivity across offices, servers, and end-user devices while minimizing downtime. The IT Systems Administrator will troubleshoot network issues, implement upgrades and improvements, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to maintain a secure, high-performing IT environment. You will support technology selection, hardware lifecycle management, and the adoption of emerging technologies aligned with organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Infrastructure

  • Administer and support corporate network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, implement performance optimization and proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Administer firewall rules, VPN access, and network security controls
  • Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, and hybrid environments
  • Coordinate backups and participate in routine disaster recovery testing
  • Work with external vendors, ISPs, and managed service providers to resolve issues and implement improvements
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain network hardware and related infrastructure
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and change records
  • Participate in change management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Escalate complex or high-risk issues as required

End-User Computing & Hardware Lifecycle

  • Evaluate, recommend, and standardize desktop, laptop, and peripheral hardware.
  • Maintain device images, deployment processes, and endpoint configuration standards.
  • Manage endpoint security solutions, antivirus, and device compliance policies.
  • Support onboarding/offboarding processes including account setup and device provisioning.
  • Track and manage IT asset inventory and lifecycle planning.
  • Support users across multiple locations and time zones, including Canada and Mexico
  • Vendor review of suppliers of PC Equipment
  • Update PC specs based on changing vendor configuration and market supplies

Cloud & Business Applications

  • Administer cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
  • Manage email systems, collaboration tools, file sharing, and user permissions.
  • Support SaaS applications including licensing, configuration, and integration.
  • Assist with cloud migration projects and hybrid infrastructure environments.

Network & Security Support

  • Maintain switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Monitor network health and assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices including access control, vulnerability management, and logging.
  • Participate in security incident response and risk mitigation activities.

Technology Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Contribute to IT strategy, system upgrades, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Evaluate vendors, products, and solutions to support organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams.

User Support & Collaboration

  • Provide advanced technical support and escalation for complex user issues.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand operational technology needs.
  • Support training initiatives to improve user adoption of systems and tools.

Office Security

  • Door Access Control management
  • Office Surveillance

Phone System Support

  • User phone, NUSO account management, and VoIP link support

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a system administration or similar technical role
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft, Fortinet) would be an asset
  • Exposure to cloud or hybrid networking environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server environment and Active Directory
  • Experience with endpoint management and device deployment
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms and backup solutions
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 or similar cloud services
  • Experience supporting multiple locations and remote users

  • LAN/WAN, VLAN and Wi-Fi networks
  • Firewalls, VPNs, switches, and routers
  • Active Directory and Azure AD
  • Windows Server, Virtual Server (Hyper-V, VMware and Xenserver) environments
  • Citrix Server management
  • Office 365 management
  • Windows PowerShell scripting
  • Linux Shell scripting

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

  • Expect occasional overtime, especially to support network upgrades, security patches, or outages.
  • Available outside normal working hours, weekend work, or handling emergencies outside regular hours.
  • Prolonged screen time at a workstation is common (monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation).
  • May require lifting/moderate handling of equipment (servers, cables, switches).
  • You’ll often multitask, manage tight deadlines, and respond to high-pressure situations when systems fail or security incidents occur.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
