Senior VMware Administrator
The Senior VMware Administrator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and operating enterprise-level computer systems and servers. This role includes installing and upgrading hardware/software, supporting research and development efforts, and ensuring system reliability by proactively preventing service disruptions and responding quickly to outages.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and operate computer systems and peripherals for a large-scale government environment providing shared IT services to multiple tenant agencies.
- Manage virtualized environments, SAN/NAS storage platforms, desktop services, and a wide range of technologies supporting enterprise computing.
- Participate in planning, implementing, and supporting complex operating systems and systems software.
- Collaborate with contractor teams, government stakeholders, and hardware/software vendors to address technical needs and resolve issues.
- Create, edit, and deliver technical documentation, diagrams, and presentations to support operations and communicate system information.
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience
- Must have a fully adjudicated Secret personnel clearance and must be eligible for a Top-Secret clearance.
- Bachelors degree is required or equivalent experience (preferably in Information Technology, Information Management, or Cyber Security)
- Must have a VMware certification or Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification, or previously held Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification, or other functionally relevant, Administrator Role-Based Microsoft certifications
- Must be DoD 8570 certified at the IAT-II / IAM-II level, Security+ or higher
- Required experience in VMware
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in operating computer systems
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a 24/7 military or governmental IT environment
- Prior experience in an engineering data center environment
- Must have extensive experience with virtualized environments, hyperconverged infrastructure, backup and recovery applications, desktop services, and a variety of technologies supporting computing capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to provide an outstanding customer service experience in a variety of circumstances across all organizational levels
- Experience with DNS, DHCP, Active Directory Domain Services, Do PKI and managing group policies
