Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior MPLS Network Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex enterprise-grade MPLS networks within our IT services infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across global customer networks. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in advanced routing protocols, MPLS/VPN architectures, and network automation, with a proven track record in managing large-scale, multi-site networks. You will be responsible for overseeing network provisioning, troubleshooting complex issues, performing capacity planning, and ensuring seamless integration with firewalls, monitoring tools, and emerging technologies such as IPv6 and MP-BGP. Your leadership will directly impact network performance, reliability, and service delivery excellence across our client base, making this a pivotal role in our network operations and service innovation strategy. The role includes specialized responsibilities in eBGP VPN implementations, ensuring secure, scalable, and policy-driven connectivity across multi-tenant environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure MPLS-based networks using Cisco ASR, ASR9k, and other enterprise-grade platforms.
  • Administer and optimize core routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, MP-BGP, and ISIS across multi-vendor and multi-domain environments.
  • Configure and manage MPLS VPNs using VRFs, route targets, and route distinguishers to enable secure, isolated customer connectivity, with a focus on eBGP VPN deployments.
  • Lead end-to-end MPLS provisioning, including service activation, configuration documentation, and change management.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of network outages, latency, packet loss, and routing anomalies across broadband, ILL, and MPLS transport layers.
  • Conduct regular capacity planning and performance analysis to support future network growth and service expansion.
  • Implement and manage network segmentation strategies to enhance security, reduce attack surface, and enforce compliance.
  • Administer Cisco ASA firewalls and integrate them with MPLS and BGP routing policies for secure traffic forwarding.
  • Utilize Nagios and other monitoring tools for proactive network health tracking, alerting, and incident response.
  • Automate repetitive network tasks using Python scripting to improve operational efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, security, cloud, customer support) to deliver seamless network services.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and documentation for junior network engineers and support staff.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging protocols (e.g., IPv6, Segment Routing), and vendor advancements in MPLS and SD-WAN.

###

Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; CCIE or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years focused on MPLS, BGP, and large-scale enterprise networking.
  • Expert-level proficiency in MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), MPLS VPN, MP-BGP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, Spanning Tree, and VRF-based network segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASR series (ASR1000, ASR9k) and Cisco ASA firewall administration.
  • Proven ability in network provisioning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning for high-availability MPLS environments.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python to develop tools for configuration management, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Experience with network monitoring platforms such as Nagios for real-time visibility and alerting.
  • In-depth knowledge of IPv6 deployment, integration, and routing in MPLS and hybrid environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with Broadband, ILL (Inter-LATA Link), and multi-tenant network architectures.
  • Expertise in eBGP VPN implementations, including route propagation, policy enforcement, and multi-site connectivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in regulated or service provider environments with SLA-driven service delivery is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively to critical incidents under pressure.
