Step 1: $97,708 to Step 10: $139,568

The successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate step within the salary grade/band, based on relevant years of experience and other applicable considerations.

Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario's electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario's future electricity needs.

What you'll do

  • Support the IESO's involvement in the reliability standards and criteria development processes of Standards Authorities by coordinating and submitting IESO comments and ballot positions.
  • Support IESO compliance readiness and reporting efforts by assisting with the preparation of compliance documentation, including Reliability Standards Audit Worksheets (RSAWs) and Internal Controls Documentation, and other submissions to Standards Authorities.
  • Assist with conducting the annual Ontario under frequency load shedding (UFLS) survey, by communicating with market participants, recording survey results, conducting analysis, and updating Operations documentation.
  • Assist with performing gap analyses on changing reliability standards and other external-facing documents such as Market Rules and Market Manuals, to identify the need for changes to compliance documentation as appropriate.
  • Assist with the execution of processes and procedures carried out by CA.
  • Under the guidance of an assigned team lead, document and review CA processes, and propose and draft revisions to documentation to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and ensure they reflect current practices.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of reliability standards and criteria, compliance monitoring methods, and industry trends by participating in forums organized by Standards Authorities, such as NERC and NPCC.
  • Support dissemination of relevant information bulletins issued by Standards Authorities and regulatory bodies to help maintain the IESO's awareness of industry issues and developments.
  • Contribute to the preparation of CA reports and presentations.
  • Provide support for CA-led meetings including IESO-MP standing committees and working groups related to compliance and standards, by organizing meeting logistics, preparing meeting materials and contacting participants.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data management tools, databases, and web pages, and assist with filing business records.
  • Provide support, as required to other business units, agencies, and market participants.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Role Requirements

  • Requires engineering knowledge of electrical theory, power system analysis and control, mathematics, computer science and the like to conduct engineering, economic or analytical studies related to the management and control of the bulk power system.
  • Requires knowledge of technical writing to prepare effective reports
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired, either through the successful completion of a four-year University education in an appropriate field or by having the equivalent education.
