IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Analyst / Senior Analyst, Portfolio Completion within the Public Equities team!

As a key member of the Investments team, the Analyst / Senior Analyst, Public Equities Portfolio Completion will support the team with a focus on Public Market portfolios for Portfolio Completion and Construction activities. This position is responsible for a wide range of activities relating to strategy development, portfolio design and asset management for IMCO’s $22+ Billion Active Equities portfolio. Primary emphasis will be placed on analyzing and proposing optimal portfolio configurations in equity markets, taking into consideration our overall client objectives, expected returns, risks, correlations and liquidity, among other things. The objective is to maximize risk-adjusted returns. Further priorities for this role will be (i) researching and developing investment themes as market conditions and our investment programs evolve (ii) supporting the build-out of key infrastructure elements and tools for our existing platform.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:

• Conducting research and analysis on a broad range of topics to inform discretionary investment and/or hedging decisions, including model building, equity market analysis and assessment of the linkages between different strategies within Active Equities.
• Supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of departmental applications, including report creation, systems review and implementations.
• Proposing and supporting the creation of top down approach and/or completion portfolio solutions to optimize equity portfolios through regions/countries, sectors, factors, etc.
• Developing proposals to enhance risk-adjusted performance of global portfolios across the developed market and emerging market, taking into consideration costs, risks and returns as well as system and team capacity constraints
• Researching and developing innovative and proprietary portfolio designs, considering potential substitute sources of returns and/or diversification, making extensive use of partner insights, data and technology to derive differentiated perspective
• Dynamically updating portfolio designs and asset weightings as market conditions and our fast-growing programs evolve
• Partnering with our Investment Finance, Operations, Risk, and IT teams in the development of analytical tools and applications that enhance our investment management capabilities

What do you need to succeed?

• 2-3 years of experience in the asset management or financial services industry is preferred
• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or other related disciplines
• CFA Level 1 & progress towards the designation is an asset
• Quantitative, analytical, financial modelling, problem solving and organizational skills
• Proficiency of one or more programming languages, including Python, MATLAB, and VBA would be preferred.
• Ability to interpret economic news and market conditions
• Previous exposure to public equity markets would be an asset
• Team player who demonstrates a desire to continually learn and improve
• Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the capability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a clear and compelling manner and present information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI and AI prompting within financial services is an asset

The base salary range for this position is CAD $100,000.00 - $140,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in IMCO's annual incentive plan.
