Job Description

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Principal UX/UI Designer to join our Client’s team on a Contract basis. This role is Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) and the Client is based in Richmond.

Summary of the Role

This role is responsible for leading UX/UI design efforts for a real-time digital twin simulator focused on airport operations. The successful candidate will design user-centric interfaces that support complex operational workflows, including aircraft, passenger, and baggage movement. This position requires strong collaboration with development teams and end users, ensuring designs are intuitive, functional, and aligned with operational needs. The role emphasizes application design over web design and involves working with complex datasets and simulation environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead UX/UI design for a real-time airport simulation platform
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using Figma
  • Create and maintain UX standards, style guides, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and operational stakeholders
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and iterative design improvements
  • Design interfaces that support complex data scenarios and operational workflows
  • Contribute to asset creation and integration within simulation environments such as Unity
  • Standardize UX documentation for effective cross-team communication
  • Ensure all designs are user-centric and aligned with end-user needs

Core Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design
  • Strong proficiency with Figma
  • Experience with wireframing, prototyping, and 3D mockups
  • Proven experience designing complex, data-driven applications
  • Portfolio demonstrating user-centric design and application-focused work

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms
  • Experience working with scripting languages for graphics manipulation
  • Background in user research and usability testing
  • Experience designing for operational or simulation-based environments
  • Familiarity with large-scale data visualization and interaction design

Terms

This is a 12-month contract position based in Richmond, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring 3 days onsite per week. The successful candidate will be required to complete a background check and reference check at the offer stage.
