Accountant (Contract)

We are seeking an Accountant to support transactional accounting and reconciliation activities within a retail-focused environment. This is a 6-month contract (with potential extension), starting May 2026. The role involves handling settlement reconciliations, accounts payable processing, journal entries, and supporting financial reporting activities across multiple systems in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile settlement files from third-party providers with recorded transactions
• Ensure accuracy of cash receipts and process payments accordingly
• Perform detailed reconciliation of AP invoices and submit for payment
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues with third-party vendors
• Monitor receivable balances and follow up on outstanding items
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations (credit cards, loyalty, gift cards)
• Record journal entries in financial systems (SAP/SMS)
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and project work
• Work across multiple systems and support retail business operations

Must-Have Requirements

• 1-3 years of accounting or financial experience
• Strong reconciliation and transaction management skills
• Experience with accounting systems (SAP or similar ERP systems)
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and investigation skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel and financial data handling
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with tools like Blackline, Allegro, or similar platforms
• Exposure to retail or multi-unit business environments
• Understanding of payment processing (credit/debit/loyalty systems)

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
