Job Description

Idea Camp Communications Inc. is a boutique communications firm that provides a wide range of communications services for clients across sectors, specializing in government and public sector organizations. We pride ourselves on holistic practices that help our clients strengthen their communications and engage key audiences.

We are seeking an experienced Engagement & Communications Specialist to support a major internal transition and change initiative. This role will focus on engagement, internal communications, facilitation, and change support within a collaborative and fast-paced project environment.

We’re looking for a self-starting, organized, and people-focused professional who can help translate strategy into action while supporting teams through organizational change.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing strategy, coordination, facilitation, and execution in a flexible and collaborative environment.

Location: Remote. Candidates must be based in British Columbia.

Contract Length: 6 months

Hours: Part-time (approximately 25-30 hours per week with flexibility)

Rate: Approximately $60/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Role Description

This position offers the opportunity to support an important organizational transition project while working alongside a collaborative and experienced team. We are looking for someone who can bring structure, professionalism, and thoughtful communication to complex initiatives involving people, change, and engagement.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and confident working across multiple priorities and interest holder groups. We value individuals who are proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable operating in evolving environments.

Engagement & Facilitation:

Strong engagement is grounded in meaningful conversations and clear alignment. This role supports the planning and facilitation of workshops, discussions, and engagement activities that help teams navigate organizational change and transition initiatives. Responsibilities include gathering feedback, identifying themes and opportunities, and creating collaborative spaces for teams and interest holders to connect and contribute.

Communications & Change Support:

Clear, thoughtful communication is essential during times of change. This role involves developing and coordinating internal communications materials that support understanding, alignment, and adoption across teams. Responsibilities include drafting presentations, briefing notes, FAQs, leadership messaging, workshop materials, and other communications resources tailored to project and audience needs.

Strategy & Implementation:

At Idea Camp, we believe strong strategies only succeed when they can be implemented effectively. This role supports the development and execution of engagement, communications, and change management strategies by helping translate priorities into coordinated plans, practical actions, and well-managed deliverables.

Project Coordination:

Successful projects rely on strong organization and clear communication. Responsibilities include coordinating timelines, deliverables, meetings, action items, and communications activities across multiple workstreams while helping ensure projects remain organized, collaborative, and moving forward.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement:

Effective engagement and communications require ongoing reflection and adaptation. This role supports feedback gathering, measurement, and continuous improvement efforts to help strengthen alignment, engagement, communications effectiveness, and long-term adoption across teams and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Internal communications experience
  • Change management training or experience
  • Online facilitation and workshop design
  • Project management experience
  • Experience supporting leadership teams or cross-functional initiatives

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in engagement, communications, internal communications, change management, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting organizational transition or change initiatives.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, engagement sessions, or collaborative discussions.

Communications

Outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate can communicate clearly and professionally with a variety of audiences and interest holders.

Organization & Project Coordination

Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Adaptability

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within evolving project environments and shifting priorities.

Relationship Building

Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships, collaborate across teams, and support productive interest holder engagement.

Nice-to-Haves

Although this role is focused primarily on engagement and communications, we value candidates with complementary skills and experiences. If any of the following are relevant to your background, please be sure to highlight them:

  • IAP2 certification and/or practical engagement experience
  • Graphic design or presentation development skills (Canva, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Miro, SharePoint, or Teams
