Job Description
Hunting Canada has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Sales Engineer in our Organic Oil Recovery division. This position will be responsible for proactively developing the OOR market in Canada, along with supporting existing opportunities. The successful candidate will originate new business opportunities, engage directly with operators, and drive projects from initial outreach through commercialization.
The Technical Sales Engineer shall provide Operational, Sales and Engineering support to the company’s Organic Oil Recovery function across Canada. The ideal candidate is a highly self‑driven, entrepreneurial individual who thrives in an unstructured environment and is motivated to build a market from the ground up. They should bring an established network within Canadian oil and gas operators and a demonstrated ability to independently originate and close new business.
The candidate should have experience in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, with a strong focus on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), and be comfortable engaging customers at both technical and commercial levels. This role requires strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills, a proven track record in technical sales, and the ability to contribute to sales strategy and growth.
The successful candidate will be located in the Calgary area. This role requires on‑site presence within a flexible environment. Occasional travel to customers’ locations throughout Western Canada, as well as the East Coast of Canada, is required. Responsibilities
Facilitate the development and progression of OOR customer projects from first Hunting involvement to eventual commercialization.
Assist in the development and implementation of processes to support the introduction of the Organic Oil Recovery technology in the region.
Proactively prospect and engage new customers through direct outreach, networking, and industry presence, while expanding existing accounts to drive incremental revenue.
Develop and present technical demonstrations and proofs‑of‑concept for complex products and services.
Collaborate with customers to understand their technical challenges and business objectives.
Architect and customize solutions to meet specific client requirements and pain points.
Provide technical guidance and training to customers to ensure successful product implementation and usage.
Develop compelling proposals and respond to RFPs, clearly communicating the value proposition.
Own and deliver against regional revenue targets, building and maintaining a qualified sales pipeline to support short‑ and long‑term growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including technical teams and decision‑makers.
Drive adoption of OOR as a new technology in the region, including overcoming technical skepticism and positioning differentiated value versus conventional EOR approaches.
Provide crucial customer feedback and market insights to influence product development and strategy.
General Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Chemistry, or similar discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role with a Major Oil Field Service Company or Operator, with preferred experience in Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Petroleum Microbiology, or similar.
Excellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills, and professional conduct.
High degree of commercial acumen.
Strong “hunter” mentality with a bias toward action and results.
Experience introducing new or non‑traditional technologies into conservative operating environments preferred.
Comfortable operating in an early‑stage, evolving market where processes, messaging, and commercial strategy are still being developed.
Authorized to work in Canada.
