With the strategic and operational support of experienced Practice Group Directors, Practice Group Leaders are able to set ambitious practice objectives and motivate their teams to meet them. An exciting opportunity exists for a seasoned professional to step into the role of Practice Group Director for either the firm’s Canada Transaction vertical or Canada Dispute vertical.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Located in any major Canadian city, the successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and improve the financial performance of practice groups;
- Lead the development and implementation of market-responsive strategic plans;
- Engage in client development and expansion strategies;
- Communicate and support best practices;
- Take ownership of operational matters including participating in the RFP process;
- Play a key role in talent management including the partner promotion process, identifying skills gaps, integrating new lawyers and managing departures;
- Acting as trusted advisor and coach to Practice Group partners including assisting with the development and execution of business plans;
- Motivate Practice Group partners to engage in the overall strategic goals of the firm.
Knowledge, Qualities and Experience Required:
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or business development with a professional services firm, as well as a thorough understanding of a law firm’s environment and operations. Also key to success in this role will be the ability to make sound data-based decisions, a strong work ethic with the capacity to be flexible, excellent organizational skills, and a creative mindset predisposed to identifying issues and finding innovative and practical solutions.
Compensation
In addition to extended health benefits, retirement savings benefits, and wellness benefits, our client anticipates that the salary for this role will fall within the range of $200,000 to $275,000. The actual salary may fall outside of this range depending on the successful candidate’s seniority and experience.
