The Lead Rapid Development Engineer is essential in crafting, building, and sustaining cutting-edge analytics solutions and reporting tools, converting both structured and unstructured data into meaningful insights at scale. In this position, you will address moderately complex to complex challenges that require an in-depth analysis of data and scenarios. As a key senior contributor, you will work closely with our Design and Innovation Lead, business stakeholders, and data engineering teams to rapidly produce impactful analytics solutions.
Your main task will be to transform business requirements into actionable analytics outputs, including prototypes and fully functional solutions such as dashboards, automated reports, and KPI monitoring tools. By leveraging modern analytics platforms and adhering to software development best practices (like SQL optimization and data modeling), you will ensure that data is systematically organized, validated, and transformed into actionable insights that empower our organization to better serve our members and partners.
This role also provides an excellent opportunity for you to shape our department's analytics strategy by developing repeatable templates and standards, increasing speed-to-value and user adoption while making key decisions on analytical processes and design complexities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and enhance reporting solutions and dashboards utilizing tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and transformation while ensuring data integrity.
- Automate routine analytics and reporting processes using scripting and workflow tools such as Python or R.
- Establish documentation and controls to enhance reliability and maintain oversight.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and BI teams to ensure solutions comply with governance and standards.
- Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing actionable insights.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Public Health, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, BI/reporting, data analysis, or analytics solution development.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in creating dashboards/scorecards using a BI tool like Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with automation/scripting in Python and/or R, along with strong Excel skills (preferably Power Query).
- Proven ability to work independently on multiple priorities and deliver results promptly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare/managed care, including Medicare Stars, HEDIS, or quality improvement.
- Familiarity with cloud/data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or Big Query.
- Experience with agile methodologies, product development thinking, and data governance practices.
- Demonstrated ability in creating analytics tools such as calculators and performance monitoring dashboards.

To support our team in a hybrid or home-office model, we require a minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Employees may receive reimbursement for internet costs based on their location. A dedicated workspace free from interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information is essential.
As part of the hiring process, we utilize HireVue technology to streamline interviewing. This may involve providing personal information for record purposes. Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be necessary.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Pay Range: $117,600 - $161,700 per year, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus incentive.
