Job Description
ABOUT ROLE:
We are seeking a skilled Linux and Windows administrator to manage and maintain Linux-based and Windows environments. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, practical knowledge of Linux server administration, and a proactive mindset to ensure system stability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or other distributions).
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
- Perform routine system backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Apply patches, updates, and perform system upgrades.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Manage and configure services such as Apache/Nginx, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, and mail servers.
- Ensure security best practices, including firewall configuration and vulnerability management.
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or other automation tools.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and IT teams for smooth operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
- Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl preferred).
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, or similar).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V).
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls).
- Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good to Have (Optional)
- Experience with cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
