Events Manager – Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN)

Full-Time | Hybrid – min. 3 days in office | Office in Surrey, BC

Events are held across Metro Vancouver

Salary Range $60,000 - $70,000 plus benefits

(Homebuilders Association Vancouver) is an association representing 1,100 member companies — from innovative community developers to flooring suppliers — building over 65% of the homes in our region. As a not‑for‑profit association, we connect, educate, and advocate for one of BC’s most important industries. Events are at the heart of how we bring our community together.

We are looking for a mid‑level

Events Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of B2B and B2C programs.

This is a working manager role, balancing execution with planning and continuous improvement. It suits someone with at least three years of corporate, association, or client‑facing event experience who is ready to take the next step and manage a fast‑paced event calendar with confidence. What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, you’ll be the key driver behind planning and executing events ranging from small leadership meetings to large‑scale industry programs.

You’ll work closely with internal team members, vendors, and liaise with a range of stakeholders — from elected officials to member volunteers. This is a hands‑on role, from preparing materials to leading large‑scale event execution with vendors and AV teams. No two days look the same, and that’s just how you like it.

Key Responsibilities

Event Program Management

Oversee and contribute to strategy, planning, sponsorships, and execution for events, managing a calendar of 20+ programs.

Act as lead point of contact for events, ensuring all deliverables are met and that critical deadlines are upheld.

Ensure that service quality standards and HAVAN’s values are maintained and consistently delivered in all areas of responsibility.

Logistics & Vendor Management:

Coordinate registration, speaker management, tech support, décor, communications, transportation of materials, and on‑site execution.

Seek quotations and hire or work with reliable subcontractors for events such as hotels, caterers, technicians etc., building rapport with vendors.

Work with the Digital Specialist on our CRM‑based registration system (GrowthZone) and event‑related website updates.

Work with program leads on managing contracts, vendors, budgets.

Provide general customer service and support.

Ensure seamless day‑of execution, such as rehearsals and overseeing audio/visual or virtual elements of event programming.

Stakeholder & Sponsor Coordination:

Liaise with sponsors, speakers, volunteers, government contacts, and members.

Budget & Reporting:

Manage event budgets, track expenses, and complete post‑event reporting and performance metrics.

You Are

An experienced events enthusiast

  • You genuinely love the work and have at least 3 years of hands‑on experience in corporate, association, or client‑facing events, managing events end to end.

Detail‑obsessed but big‑picture smart

  • You can manage the nitty‑gritty (budgets, timelines, run sheets) and keep your eye on how it all ladder up to bigger goals.

A ‘roll‑up‑your‑sleeves contributor’

  • As the events lead, you are the first to jump in to get things done.

A confident leader and collaborator

  • Whether it’s working with the onsite hotel banquet team or working cross‑functionally, you bring maturity, calm under pressure, and strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and respectful direction to team members or contractors to the table. Proactive and able to manage multiple functions and projects while meeting deadlines. Able to manage competing priorities with diplomacy and professionalism.
