General Description:

The General Accountant and Payroll Associate is responsible and accountable for all payroll functions related to Finance. In addition, the ideal candidate is well-versed in all accounting procedures and has a natural aptitude for numbers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Specifically, this position entails the following duties but is not limited to:
• All Payroll functions and reporting including year end reconciliation with WSIB, CRA etc.
• Entering journal entries at month end
• Reconcile the Balance sheet accounts assigned to the position
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for financial reporting and operational efficiency
• Other related duties as assigned and needed
• Other finance duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP)
• Proficient in accounting software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Working Conditions:

• This position is based in an office environment.
• The standard workweek for this position is 40 hours.
• The standard business hours for this position is Monday to Thursday 7:30 to 4:30, and Friday 7:30 to 1:30
• Overtime and hours worked outside of the standard work schedule may be required
